Lori Jones, owner of Double L Enterprises, has been in the trucking industry for many years. Double L Enterprises is a family owned and operated company that works for many other large companies in the Georgia area, as well as local contractors. 

Before becoming a dump truck driver, Lori owned a dance studio for children. She expressed that she could have never expected that this is what she would be doing at this point in her life, but after going through many life changes, she was able to change career paths with a couple pieces of equipment. This allowed her to start over in life, and Lori was able to build a very successful business with the help of her husband and son.

Why Western Star?

“Compared to other dump trucks that I’ve driven, the Western Star has a smoother ride because there are springs in the back.

One of the things I like best about Western Star compared to other dump trucks is the simplicity of the dash. It is a lot more user friendly. Additionally, as a female driver, I like that the transmission controls are in the dash as opposed to the cab of the truck. I feel comfortable and safe when dumping a load in this Western Star Truck because of the quality when the bed is raised and the stability of the truck.

Another thing that I really like about the Western Star Truck is that when I’m doing my pre-trip inspection, all of the fluid levels that I need to check are color coded and eye-level, making it easily accessible.”

Working in the Trucking Industry

“We are very blessed with business and very thankful for the relationships that we have in this industry. There are so many different people that I get to work with, and I’ve made lots of relationships over the years that I really enjoy.

I also really enjoy working in this business and being a woman in trucking. Every day is different. Every job is different. So, everything makes the day interesting. 

There aren't really a whole lot of women that work in this industry which is a shame, there should be. The men and women that do drive heavy equipment, or dump trucks in particular, are such skilled drivers. It always amazes me to watch them work on the job and the things that
they can do in a dump truck.”
