I am PSTC - Mark Cagle
Peach State Truck Centers in Forest Park, GA, is excited to welcome Mark Cagle as the new Truck Sales Manager. With an impressive 25-year tenure at Daimler Trucks of North America, Mark brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for the trucking industry to his new role.
Growing up surrounded by trucks and the unmistakable allure of chrome, Mark's connection to the industry runs deep. Hailing from Mt Holly, NC, where the truck plant is located, Mark's childhood drives past the facility fueled his ambition to work in that very plant. Starting as a truck assembler and later venturing into welding for six years, Mark's determination to advance led him to pursue higher education.
Daimler Trucks supported Mark in obtaining a bachelor's degree, which he used to transition from truck assembly to customer application engineering. After a successful stint in engineering, Mark moved into sales, eventually becoming a district manager in Atlanta. During this time, Mark served as the corporate representative to Peach State, establishing a connection with the company's culture and values.
Mark's decision to join Peach State was a calculated and strategic one. Impressed by the company's culture and the values exemplified by President and Dealer Principal Rick Reynolds and his team, Mark saw an opportunity to contribute to Peach State's success. Despite the inevitable ups and downs, Mark's experience with the sales teams and the dealership was overwhelmingly positive.
In 2017, Mark moved to Cumming, GA, and the desire to work for Peach State became more apparent. When the opportunity arose, he made the move in October 2023. As the Sales Manager in Forest Park, Mark acknowledges the learning curve of transitioning from the OEM side to the dealer side. However, he is confident that his strong relationships and understanding of the industry will facilitate a smooth integration.
Mark's primary focus is on managing allocation and pricing, ensuring that dealerships receive the necessary support. His role involves understanding customers' businesses, their needs, and their buying history. Mark emphasizes the importance of building and maintaining relationships, stating that 90% of the job is about gaining the trust of customers.
Mark's main goal is to maintain existing customer relationships while actively seeking new business opportunities. He sees himself as a support person for the sales team, providing tools, advice, and guidance to ensure success. Mark's extensive network of relationships and contacts is a valuable asset in efficiently getting things done and winning new business for Peach State.
Mark's enthusiasm for his role is evident as he describes the challenge of deal strategy as akin to solving a puzzle. He finds inspiration in hearing customers' stories and learning about their businesses, emphasizing the critical role of the trucking industry in meeting the world's needs. For Mark, selling trucks means contributing to the delivery of basic necessities of life, from power lines to medical supplies.
Away from the hustle of selling trucks, Mark is a devoted family man, celebrating 26 years of marriage and raising two sons—one a school counselor and the other a Marine. A passionate freshwater fisherman, Mark enjoys the tranquility of nature when he's not immersed in the world of trucks.
Mark Cagle's journey from a childhood dream of working with trucks to becoming the Truck Sales Manager at Peach State Truck Centers is a testament to his dedication, expertise, and passion for the industry. As he leads the sales team in Forest Park, Mark's vision for maintaining customer relationships, seeking new opportunities, and contributing to the broader needs of society positions Peach State for continued success in the trucking world.
